Routine well-child visits are the foundation of pediatric care at Kaplan Pediatrics in Plano. These checkups track growth, development, behavior, and general health from birth through age 21. They are also when many immunizations are given according to guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).
Well visits are scheduled on a regular basis, with more frequent appointments in the first two years of life and annual visits for older children and teens when appropriate. Your child's doctor will let you know when the next checkup is due based on age and health needs.
Infancy and toddler years: Newborns and young children typically have checkups every few months so we can monitor feeding, growth, milestones, and immunizations on schedule.
School age: Annual well visits help review vision and hearing concerns, school performance, sleep, nutrition, and activity. Sports or camp forms can often be completed at these appointments when forms are provided in advance.
Teens: Yearly visits include private discussion time when appropriate, along with screening topics relevant to adolescent health. We continue caring for patients through age 21.
Established patients can open well-visit forms on our Current Patients page under Well Visits. New families should start on New Patients to download the registration packet before the first appointment.
